  • Is my heart really in this?

    I am someone who thinks change is good. I love a good change. I think in this life I have found that saying YES to the Universe is the best way, rather than trying to keep everything the same! And that is a poncey way of saying I made something new this week. So I had a couple of small, 6″ squareish cotton (it might be linen) lace doilies, and I took my little heart design and transferred the design to the centre with my transfer heat pen.   • Silk shading the Anatomical Heart

    So here’s another re-do. When I did the first Heart pendant, my guru in her infinite wisdom said ‘because it is a ‘wet’ organ, you ought to try using shinier threads like rayon or something’. Stitching knowledge, she has. So like a good student I picked some nice subtly variegated, hand dyed fine silk for the muscle, and stuck to cotton again for the arteries and veins.   • Rib cage mash up

    I have to say this one was a tricky little bugger. However, I got a lot of learns from her. She might be my favorite so far. Hmmm…yes. First off I decided to work on the sludge coloured linen I used in my Fly Agaric piece, but backed it up with some green polycotton – this helped give me better tension in my hoop as I knew  was going to be adding quite dense stitches. I printed out my little ribs outline after I had modified it to the right kind of thing – enough detail but not too complex....
